I hope you've had an amazing year and a wonderful holiday season! As we wrap up 2024, I thought I'd share some predictions for what buyers & sellers might expect in the year ahead!
For Buyers:
Affordability Challenges: Mortgage rates are expected to settle right around 6% in 2025, and higher home prices can make affordability difficult, especially for first time homebuyers - however, fret not!! Our clients are in great hands with us and we are always looking for opportunities for our first timers to be successful!
Wealth Building Opportunities: Buying in 2025 can be a key step toward building long term wealth by transitioning from renting to owning.
More Housing Options: New construction driven by deregulation and federal incentives may increase inventory, especially in affordable housing.
For Sellers:
Increased Competition: With more housing supply, sellers may need to price their homes competitively and focus on making them stand out to buyers.
Fewer Move-Up Buyers: Higher mortgage rates - than the unsustainably low 3% & 4% we saw during the pandemic - could make some current homeowners hesitant to sell and trade up, which might limit demand in certain price ranges.
Policy Shifts: Changes in tax policies or deregulation could impact selling strategies, especially for investors or landlords.
